Griffin Engine Center: Griffin, Georgia, USA

With a clear focus on quality, the Caterpillar manufacturing plant in Griffin has clearly improved the durability and reliability of Cat marine engines for global customers. Utilizing the Caterpillar Production System (CPS) methodology, facility managers have taken a pro-active approach to eliminating waste in production and improving velocity, without sacrificing product quality.

The inline engine long blocks for the C9, C12, and C18 are completed in Griffin after being assembled in Seguin, TX.

The Griffin plant oversees manufacturing of the C32 and 3500 series generator sets, assembly of the C32 ACERT marine engines, and completion of the C9, C12, and C18 after their assembly in Seguin, TX.  While the plant manufactures engines for all Caterpillar Power Systems segments, the 421,000 square foot (39,100 square meter) plant fully understands the marine industry and Caterpillar customers.

That's why the Griffin Engine Center is ISO 9001 Certified (renewed March 2007), with zero findings in 2005, 2006 and 2007. Additionally, the plant has received numerous certifications from the following Marine Classification Societies:
